FAQs

Can I do RTGS on weekends and bank holidays?

Yes. Since December 14, 2020, RTGS is available 24×7×365 including weekends and all bank holidays. You can initiate RTGS transfers through your bank's net banking or mobile banking app at any time.

Is RTGS faster than NEFT?

Both NEFT and RTGS typically credit funds within 30 minutes. RTGS settles each transaction individually in real time (gross settlement), while NEFT settles in batches every 30 minutes. In practice, the effective speed is similar for the end customer.

What is the difference between RTGS and wire transfer?

RTGS is India's domestic interbank settlement system operated by RBI. Wire transfer typically refers to international transfers using the SWIFT network. For international transfers, you would use SWIFT (which requires your bank's SWIFT/BIC code), not RTGS.
